Emotional dishonesty normally refers to a person's inability to recognize their part in emotional conflict. This can be used as a form of coping, lack of self-awareness, lack of empathy, etc. Considering that those that struggle with emotional dishonesty either do it unknowingly because they lack the ability to self reflect or do it to preserve their pride, it is not a black and white concept like regular dishonestly. Regardless of the situation, dishonest deals with leaving the truth out or expresses opposite ideas than the truth. The difficult part of distinguishing normal dishonesty is defining truth case by case. In my personal experience, the only definitive truth is biblical and through God.
What is emotional dishonesty, and does it differ from other forms of dishonesty?
